Sanlucar de Barrameda, located at the mouth of the river Guadalquivir, in southern Spain, is a town of fishermen, shepherds and hired hands, but it has also given birth to a good number of "toreros" and flamenco artists of international renown, just as the mining towns in the valleys of Wales naturally produce talented rugby players.
The Sanluqueños are the first to admit that they are the enlightened enemy of rigour, conformism, conventionality and punctuality, in other words, different from Northerners.
Amidst a setting of feast days, bullfights and flamenco concerts, this film is the discovery of a way of life. We encounter a people rooted in a lifestyle that expresses the popular traditions of the south "el sur", in Sanlucar de Barrameda, at the far end of Andalusia.
